Welcome to Expo 2010 Shanghai China

Universal Exposition or Expo, also known as the World Fair and World’s Fair, is the name given to various large public exhibitions held since the mid-19th century. They are the third largest event in the world in term of economic and cultural impact after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games. They have been organized for more than one and a half centuries—longer than both the (modern) Olympic Games and the world Cup. The first Expo was held in the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, London, in 1851. Now you can participate in this amazing event in Shanghai China. It is the first time World Exposition is held in a developing country.

The theme of Expo 2010 is the “Better City, Better Life”, representing the common wish of the whole humankind for a better living in future unban environments. This theme represents a central concern of the international community for future policy making, urban strategies and sustainable development.

The name of the mascot of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China is Hai Bao which means the treasure of the sea. The name of Hai Bao is easy to remember,  and is a typical lucky name in Chinese tradition. Hai Bao is the good well ambassador of Shanghai Expo. He is embracing friends from all over the world with his arms and confident smile.

More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world to come and visit the World Expo. 70 million visitors are expected, the largest in history.
